Senior Staff Full Stack Engineer

About TrueCX

TrueCX exists to answer one question: how do you know if a customer conversation actually went well?

Whether it's a human agent or an AI voice bot on the other end of the line, most companies find out something went wrong only after a real customer experienced it. We built a better way.

Our technology — Intelligent Virtual Customers (IVCs) — are AIs that call agents and AI systems the same way a real customer would: impatient, off-script, asking hard questions, and not letting things slide. We use them to train human agents before their first live call, test AI voice systems before they go live, and benchmark how a company's customer experience stacks up against competitors. Same technology, three powerful use cases.

We're early-stage, seed-funded, and moving fast toward Series A. If you want to build something that genuinely matters — at the intersection of voice, AI, and enterprise software — this is the right place.

About the Team

We're a small, senior engineering team building technically hard things. Our systems run real-time voice conversations, manage complex AI state, score performance, and integrate into enterprise environments — all with a 48-hour deployment promise and zero IT dependencies required from the customer.

Our team covers full-stack product engineering, backend infrastructure, AI/ML systems, and platform reliability. As a Senior Staff Engineer here, you won't just contribute to these systems — you'll help lead them: mentoring engineers, driving architecture decisions, shaping how we build, and owning outcomes end to end.

We're also an AI-first engineering team. We use tools like Claude and Cursor as standard practice to move faster and build better — and we expect our senior engineers to help set the standard for how we do that responsibly.

The Role

We need a Senior Staff Full Stack Engineer who can own complex problems from idea to production — and make the people around them better in the process.

You'll work directly with engineering leadership, product, and real enterprise customers to build features that are not just functional but genuinely good. You'll touch our conversation engine, our scoring and eval systems, our trainer and admin experiences, and the platform infrastructure that holds it all together.

This is a high-ownership role. You'll have a real voice in how we architect, what we prioritize, and how we grow the team. If you've ever wanted scope that simply isn't available at a larger company, this is it.

What You'll Do

  • Own features end to end — from design through deployment — across the voice pipeline, conversation engine, scoring layer, and enterprise integrations

  • Work directly with customers and product to understand real problems and build solutions that actually solve them

  • Help evolve our AI systems: IVC conversation management, LLM orchestration, scenario generation, and the eval harnesses that keep simulation quality high

  • Contribute to making our real-time voice pipeline faster, more reliable, and able to handle more concurrent conversations

  • Mentor engineers, lead architecture discussions, and raise the bar on code quality, observability, and release practices

  • Help define and champion how we use AI-assisted engineering tools across the team — setting the standard, not just following it

What We're Looking For

  • 9+ years of engineering experience building real products at tech-driven companies

  • Former founder or early startup engineer who has built something from scratch — a strong plus

  • Strong with TypeScript and modern frontend development

  • Comfortable Python and solid on distributed systems

  • Experience with Postgres or similar relational databases

  • Exposure to real-time audio, voice pipelines, or STT/TTS systems is a meaningful plus

  • Some experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or AI eval — you don't need to be an ML researcher, but you need to be genuinely curious about AI

  • You care deeply about production quality — reliability, observability, and what "enterprise-ready" actually means in practice

  • You thrive in ambiguity, manage competing priorities without drama, and know how to make progress when the path isn't fully defined

Why TrueCX

  • Pre-Series A — you're joining before the story is written, with real equity upside

  • Direct partnership with the CTO and leadership team — no layers, no bureaucracy

  • A senior team that respects craft, writes things down, and gives direct feedback

  • A product with real, measurable ROI and a market that's growing fast

  • AI-first engineering culture — we use the best tools and expect our engineers to lead the way

  • Scope and ownership that simply isn't possible at a company ten times our size
